This site is about my journey into the world of Tesla!
July 23, 2019, I ordered a black Tesla Model 3 Performance. I wasn’t even looking for a new car! But as I began reading about Tesla having fixed their initial Model 3 production problems, and as I began weighing the costs and coolness of the Model 3 against my current car (2005 Audi TT Coupe 1.8T 270 hp Quatro).
I was sold!
I checked my bank account and decided I needed to do it! Coming down from the initial high and beginning to cool off, sensibility crept in and a thorough research phase began. I read numerous articles and owner statements, viewed tons of documentaries and got hands-on through visiting Tesla shops. I discussed my choice with friends and colleagues, and in that process I thought, why keep all to myself, when I can share it with people like you!
Here’s how I have organized the site. The drop-down menu shows various topics I hope will be of interest to you. You can download the Owner's Manual, Vehicle Warranty and a Delivery Checklist. Under Service Intervals & Maintenance Costs, I will continuously document my expenses to share a realistic view on what it actually entails to become a Tesla owner. The Timeline section describes my journey from purchase and onwards. I will post photos under the section My Tesla and new items will likely be added to the menu as I shift from being an enthusiastic pre-owner to an actual and more realistic owner!
If you have comments, input, or questions please don’t hesitate to comment (see details under the Contact section).
“...an AK-47 disguised as a butter knife."
“...this model feels every bit as fast as the 3.2sec 0-60mph claim. It is monumentally, addictively rapid, the horizon reeling in at warp-speed on full throttle, with a silent, whirry accelerative thrust.”
“...steering is sublime - beautifully weighted and superbly accurate. In addition, this is one of the quickest steering racks experienced on a mainstream saloon since the original Alfa Romeo 156.”
“...the Model 3 handles like a sports sedan, with precise steering, nimble handling, and very little body roll. Its low center of gravity and taut suspension system keeps the car planted nicely in turns, though some luxury car shoppers may not like its somewhat firm ride. The regenerative braking system smoothly slows the car down when you lift your foot off the pedal, without the lurching feel that an aggressive regen brake often has.”
“...autopilot advanced safety and convenience features are designed to assist you with the most burdensome parts of driving.”
“...model 3 is designed to improve over time with regular software updates, introducing new features, functionality, and performance.”
“...Battery and Drive Unit Warranty Coverage on the Model 3 Performance is 8 years or 120,000 miles (192,000 km), whichever comes first.”
“...Body Rust Warranty Coverage on the Model 3 Performance is 12 years and unlimited miles.”
“....according to Consumer Reports Tesla 3 owners are the most satisfied car owners in a 2018 review.”
“...the Tesla Model 3 has been deemed as one of the safest vehicles in the road today after undergoing a series of stringent tests by the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP).”
“...model 3 achieves the lowest probability of injury of any vehicle ever tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).”
“...the inside of the Model 3 is unlike any other car. You can use your smartphone as a key, and access all driver controls in the central 15-inch touchscreen. The all-glass roof extends from front to back, creating a sense of openness from every seat.”
“...this is the future, today!”
